When it comes to romance, no city in the world can compare to Paris. Emma and Brenton's breathtaking and dreamy engagement shoot set amongst the clouds and colonial streets can easily leave one with an afterthought of awe!
Emma, please introduce yourself and Brenton!
I love to travel and experience other cultures, so far I’m up to 18 countries but I would love to do 30 before I’m 30! Brenton hasn’t travelled as much but he’s caught the travel bug from me and now wants to visit many places around the world. He loves to cook so his longing for travel comes from experiencing the local food and culture. Brenton and I are getting married in May so we thought why not take the opportunity to have professional photos taken in Paris in lieu of an engagement shoot.
What took you both to Paris, and what was your favourite memory?
I had been to Paris previously but only for a whirlwind two days, so I naturally wanted to explore more of it. Brenton’s always wanted to see Europe, particularly Paris. It is such an old city with a long and rich history, something very rare in Australia. We also love food and couldn’t wait to try some of the artisan bread and delicious pastries that the French are famous for.
What is one piece of advice you'd give someone travelling to Paris?
Brenton: If you are going in winter, plan your outfit carefully. It may be cold outside, but inside everywhere is toasty warm, it’s best to wear layers so you can easily take your warm clothes off when you go indoors.
Emma: The metro is super handy! Don’t be afraid to give it a try because it makes getting around so much easier!
Talk us through your Travelshoot and how it all went down! What were your favourite parts?
We met with our photographer Alina at 10am. We had been hoping the fog would clear by that point, but it decided to hang around for most of the day. Alina poked her head out from behind the camera, peered into the white fog and said “Paris is in love today, her head (the Eiffel Tower) is in the clouds”. In the end, I think the fog created some beautiful, unique shots.
Alina had a way of lifting the mood, she talked us through the shoot and got some amazing shots. She also gave us a choice on which locations we wanted to visit. She was always ready with her camera, even when we weren’t expecting it. This led to her capturing some very natural, unplanned shots which ended up being some of our favourites (especially the one where we were photobombed by a dog walker!).
If you could teleport yourself anywhere right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
If we could be anyway where right now, it would be back at the Christmas markets in the small town of Melsungen, Germany. It was one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences from our trip. There really is something special about Christmas in Europe.
