Swimwear inspired by travel, perfect for travel

The South of France, embodied in a swimwear collection. Where can we sign up?!

UNE PIECE has launched their second collection- The Cap d'Ail Collection. Think swimwear inspired by travel, perfect for travel. The pieces in this range are created to take you effortlessly from day to night by teaming them with your favourite palazzo pants, kaftan or flowing skirt. We caught up with Carly Brown, the founder of UNE PIECE to find out what gets her up in the morning, her passions, and how she combines travel with her business.

Tell us a little bit about you – what do you do on your weekend?

Sleep-ins are a thing of the past now I have a little one. So, yummy breaky somewhere. Time with my little family. Weekend escapes to the beach. Cooking up seafood feasts for friends and family. Wine time. (NB notice the emphasis on food!!)

Best thing about the business?

Working with women and creating a brand that celebrates them. Also creating a culture in my business that values a happy, healthy, high performing team. Plus test-driving my latest collection is pretty amazing.

Best tip for women about to buy swimwear?

Go for what makes you feel good. Find swimwear that is carefully and thoughtfully constructed and that you feel beautiful in.

I also think lining, beautiful fabric and UPF50+ technology is a must. At www.unepiece.com we are focused on creating swimwear that makes women feel comfortable and empowered (and from there you feel beautiful!).

Your thoughts on swimwear trends this summer?

The long-sleeved one piece trend is an exciting one, as finally women have beautiful options to choose from rather than daggy rashvests. They can be sun-smart as well as feel beautiful.

I’m also so excited about the prints that are on trend this season. We have created a gorgeous hand illustrated botanical floral print and two stunning leopard prints.

Is there any travel inspiration behind UNE PIECE?

The idea of a ‘One Piece’ swimwear label came from my time living in Europe. I spent most of my twenties living and working in London. I would escape the rainy wet weather to the beach whenever I could!

In Europe women have a ‘repertoire’ of swimwear for holidays – they don’t just exclusively wear bikinis. I quickly became captivated with the elegance and simplicity of a one-piece.

When researching the market I also realized that women feel more confident and empowered to enjoy the beach in a one-piece, and in turn, they feel more beautiful.

Our latest collection was inspired by the South of France - a little spot that I loved called Cap d’Ail.

Your favourite holiday and why?

This is very tricky - it’s a toss up between the Sunshine Coast and somewhere like Oia in Greece or Positano in Italy.

What’s next for UNE PIECE?

There are so many exciting things coming! New styles, new campaigns and focusing on spreading the word about UNE PIECE. We have had sales in 39 countries so I’m excited to see the brand continue to grow globally as well as here at home in Australia.

I am also excited about the launch of our new journal, Life is Beautiful by UNE PIECE.

Next holiday destination?

Noosa for Christmas! Then hopefully a trip to a secret beach in a national park in Mallorca, Spain next year.

Now THIS is what I like to read with my morning coffee.
